  1. For 2024, a new law is in effect that severely limits conceal carry weapon permit holders. Senate Bill 2 expands what is considered a "sensitive place" where those with CCWs are banned from carrying. A joint statement has been released on social media from the Sheriff and District Attorney in Sutter County, saying that they have "no interest in criminalizing constitutionally protected behavior".   2. Sacramento city council member Sean Loloee, subject of a federal indictment, is officially stepping down. Despite the federal charges, Loloee blames Mayor Darrell Steinberg for creating what he calls "a politically motivated circus" in an effort to cover up the mayor's own shortcomings.   3. There is another new effort at the state capitol to curb the widespread shoplifting that's devastating retailers and small businesses across California. Sacramento Assemblyman Kevin McCarty has introdcued a new bill to hold repeat offenders accountable for drug offenses or retail theft by adjusting Proposition 47. Click here to read more.
  4. A fresh layer of snow sits across the Sierra Nevada mountains. Scientists at the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab say recent storms have brought at least a foot a new snow, which is 38-percent of average for this time of year.
