California is a making a move to ban oil wells near homes and schools.

Governor Gavin Newsom has now proposed a statewide 3,200-foot buffer zone to separate homes, schools, hospitals and other populated areas from active oil and gas wells. Other oil and gas states likes Texas, Colorado and North Dakota already have imposed some form of setback between properties and oil operations. If adopted, California’s 3,200-foot buffer zone would be the largest in the country.
