California's Santa Rosa Junior College Bringing Home Students In Italy

Santa Rosa Junior College of California is bringing home 22 students and one instructor from a trip to Italy. The group is part of the college's study abroad program, which is being canceled as the coronavirus spreads in Italy. Italian leaders have essentially shut down international travel throughout the entire the country.

The students arrived in Florence on February 1st and were supposed to stay there until May 1st. Program Director Kerry Loewen says it was a difficult decision, but the student's safety is paramount.

SRJC is not the first college to make this kind of move. Last week, Sonoma State University told two students studying in South Korea to pack their bags and return to California.
