New Mural at the California Automobile Museum Honors Sac Auto Pioneers

"The Early Years" Mural at the California Automobile Museum

A new addition to the Wide Open Walls mural project here in Sacramento---this time at the California Automobile Museum. The mural is called "The Early Years", and it honors Sacramento automotive trailblazers Harry Westergard, Dick Bertolucci, George and Sam Barris and Don Tognotti. "The Early Years" measures 80 feet long and almost 20 feet high and took more than two weeks to complete, with artist Bruce Gossett working 8-10 hours a day in 100+ degree heat to complete the work.

There will be a small dedication ceremony in front of the mural at the museum at 2200 Front Street on Friday morning at 10. Gossett will speak briefly about his inspiration for the artwork, and will be followed by members of the families represented in the painting,
