Let's see what's new in our state and our world today:
- It's a double holiday weekend, though nobody's getting the day off. Today is Flag Day. It was on this day in 1777 that Congress adopted a flag for our new country. And Sunday is Father's Day. If you haven't made reservations, bought tickets or figured out a gift, hurry.
- The weather is back to normal. 89 today, 85 tomorrow, 90 on Sunday. And the return to triple digits on Tuesday is now out of the forecast---they're calling for 99 that day, then back into the low-to-mid 90s the rest of the week.
- We had so much important material on that startling ProPublica/McClatchy piece on the spike in California jail inmate deaths from our interview with journalist Ryan Gabrielson yesterday that we decided to save my in-depth conversation with UC Berkeley-IGS poll director Mark DiCamillo for today. The big question in his first poll on the California Primary---why is Kamala Harris running fourth among Democrats in her home state? Listen for that today between 4 and 7.
- U.S. Forest Service and Interior Department specialists are warning Congress that this wildfire season could very well be worse than last year's. Given that 85 people died here in California when the town of Paradise was essentially obliterated, that's a startling prospect.
- A big night tonight for the Rocklin High School Choir---they'll sing backup for Foreigner on their 80s hit "I Want To Know What Love Is" when the band plays Thunder Valley Casino Ampitheater tonight. Also very cool: Both Foreigner and Thunder Valley Casino will be donating $500 each to Rocklin High's music program.
