Levee Breach Forces Evacuations in San Joaquin County

Monday night San Joaquin emergency services officials called for an evacuation in the area south of Woodward Avenue, West of Union Road to the San Joaquin River due to a levee breach.

Reportedly some 500 people received an emergency text around 7:25 p.m. and were told to take prescriptions, documents, clothing, and pets.  Emergency services officials reportedly issued a statement at 8:45 indicating that the breach was under control, but evacuations reportedly remain in place.

An evacuation center was set up inside the Community Center at 15552 5th Street in Lathrop.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for San Joaquin until Tuesday morning at 7:30.
