The small nation located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean has decided it wants to switch its position in regards to the International Date Line. Right now, Samoa currently has the same date as the United States. But the government is trying to aline itself more with its largest trade partners (Australia and New Zeland) and is changing time zones.

In order to move ahead one day, the government has to cancel a day in the calendar year. Officials picked this Friday and wiped it off the map.

This isn't the first time the nation has made a radical change to align itself more with its largest trade partners. 2 years ago, the nation switched their roadways from right-side driving to left-side driving.
