A study released by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind found that respondents who don't watch any news at all were more informed about current events than those who watch only cable news.
1,185 were sureveyed nationwide and asked about what news sources they used in the past week and then were asked a variety of questions about current political and economic events in the U.S. and abroad.
On average, respondents were correct in answering 1.8 of 4 questions about international news and 1.6 of 5 questions about domestic affairs. The respondents who did worst were those who received all their news from FOX News. Those who did best were respondents who received their news from NPR.
The other news sources found in the survey were MSNBC, CNN, Daily Show, Talk Radio and Sunday News shows.
