The American Red Cross is out today with a new application for your iPhone or Android.

The earthquake app is supposed to give you realtime information on where quakes are happening and how intense was the shaking.  But it also turns your smart phone into a survival tool kit transforming you camera flash into a flash or strobe light, lets you connect to social media for news updates, and provides a "I'm safe" button to let loved ones know you're alright if an earthquake strikes where you live.

The app has many other features and is available at the Apple Store or Google Play Store for free.
