After three years and $534,000, the trailers and diggers are all gone, and now Southside Park is ready to be loved by a whole new generation of neighbors.
When they whipped out the giant scissors in Southside Park this morning for a ceremonial ribbon cutting to celebrate all of the new renovations to the park, Councilman Rob Fong found that those big "City of Sacramento" silver scissors aren't as sharp as they are heavy. But once the intact red ribbon was simply torn down, it was time to focus on the newly renovated Southside Park.
Toppling chain link fences at the water's edge have given way to a sturdy black decorative fence at the crest of the pond, and new lighting and picnic tables complete the look.
A beautiful egret dipped his beak in the waters’ edge during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
