A local ballerina will be living out her dream...at the ripe old age of 15. She's moving to Russia to study at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy.

Rose Vermazen, of Davis, has been dancing most of her life, starting at age 7. And it was back then that she first heard of Bolshoi Ballet, and it became her dream to become a member of the Bolshoi Theater.

"All of the history is there, the culture is so rich there," said Vermazen. "Everyone appreciates the arts in Russia."

Her first step towards that dream, and it's a big one, is moving to Russia to study at the Bolshoi's Academy at the end of September. It's a rare, and prestigious invitation, and Vermazen says she's expecting it to be very challenging.

"I think the culture, and the language barrier will be hard to get over, but my comfort zone is the ballet," said Vermazen. "I know for sure what to expect."

Vermazen, who has been studying in Sacramento, calls dance her happy place.
