These days in Vegas, the action's not in the casinos anymore, it's pool side. Hotels are taking in the thousands who are flocking to them for parties.
At the new Vdara Hotel, there's a big problem with an architectural flaw on the glass skyscraper overlooking the pool. The sun's rays are being magnified to the point where they are actually causing severe burns to the guests. Employees refer to the phenomenon as "the death ray."
There have been reports that the concentrated sunlight melted plastic. One man told ABC News that while sitting in a lounge chair by the pool his hair caught on fire.
It's going to be tough for the folks at the Vdara to fix the problem. As the seasons change, the angle of the Earth to the sun changes too, meaning the hot spot will move around in different ways. If you happen to go to the hotel, remember to avoid the pool area when the sun is highest in the sky.
