Their contract expired last night after talks deadlocked over the writers' demand for more money for DVD and Internet sales. Last night's Emmys broadcast may have been the least-watched in history. According to preliminary Nielsen figures, the audience was about 13 million viewers. That's three million fewer than watched last year, and below the record low of 13.8 million from three years ago.
