Like a Rolex watch sold by a street vendor, there's always something not quite legit about pretty much any story involving the Maloof's. Most any of their financial transactions, from selling the only Coors franchise in thirsty new Mexico..next best thing to your own branch of the Federal Reserve, to building an expensive Hotel OFF the Las Vegas strip..are to shrewd business transactions as a pay day loans are to sensible financial planning. The word thats traveling around Twitter is that a bunch of Seattle based rich guys want to buy the King and make a fast break for the land of rain, starbucks and the Space Needle. We're told the deal could bring a cool half billion to the Maloof's shrinking empire. One report says the deal is first and goal on the 1..another puts it in the discussion stage. Since Twitter many days is about as reliable as homeless man's Master planned suburban subdivision, I'm not convinced its going to happen..but if it does, it's great news...for Sacramento in General and Kings Fans in particular. We lose two of the more annoying business people any city has ever had to stomach, but as you'll hear after some prima donna is traded to another major league team...it's addition by subtraction...The NBA Commissioner has a soft spot for Sacramento...and the next franchise up...with prudent..serious players in ownership could be awarded to sacramentoMayor Johnson would
mortage Capitol Mall, sell pop corn in the cheap seats and trade RE Graswhich to Milwaukee to get a deal done..and a new team would eventually land the city a new arena and a revitalized downtown. True, we would lose a crappy team with a limited future, but hey...the republicans do that in almost ever election . I'm mindful of the Fairy Tale The Boy Who Cried Maloof...but for the longterm good of Sacramento and it's great fans...Let's hope the Maloof's are mapping out their morning Latte run and buying umbrellas for the resettlement north...
