We are running out of November, and that means for many people, with the election history, the annoying intelligence insulting campaign ads off the broadcast media, and the holidays coming at us like a fast moving train, it's time to put America's problems on hold..until the next election cycle, because the theory goes, theres not much we can do about them anyway.
Hmm. America hasn't always had that attitude. You'll note we're not speaking German or Japanese as a nation, we pay no allegiance to any monarch, and even post 9-11...we are still the world leader in freedom, standard of living and other positive statistcs. Oh we have problems, and the longer we choose to play Scarlett O'Hara..fiddly dee...I'll worry about that tomorrow..The worse they'll get.
I can't think of one real problem we face that can't be solved with simple common sense. The problem is that, finding it Washington is like looking for World Series pennants at Wrigley Field or snow mobiles in Fort Lauderdale.
First fix. Flat Tax. Every American pays 20 percent of what they earn. Make twenty thousand, the government gets 4 of it. Make ten million, the government lays claim to 2 million. I think there would be a lot more money coming in, fewer loopholes to ring up all those expenses for printing, and attorney and accountant fees.
So why aren't we doing it. Attorneys and accountants. Most of are elected officials are lawyers and most of them have accountants.
Whats quality of life mean to you? Freedom to do what you like, earn enough money to do it, and able to do it in a great climate. That works for me...that also defines California..so why is the Golden State ranked dead last on the list of best and worst run states in America.? Because we elect idiots. California..despite the best climate..arguably finest natural resources and a diverse and great work force...is led by labor owned self serving pols who never met a law they couldn't extend or make redundant...We earn more money collectively than anywhere else; yet we face billions in debt each year...Now I have no desire to live in North Dakota or Wyomoming--Yahho''s choise as the best managed states...I'd just like to better manage this one..Seems to me we need to go back to basics..We'll have to do our home work...we need to research proposed legislative spending..like we research a major purchase..like a car or a home entertainment system...or a mortgage loan..we have to become involved in the process...we have to stop worrying about what the government is doing for us and what we can do to make things better for the government and thus all of us----think it can't be done? Ask King George...Or The Emperor or Hitler.....
We are the best country in the world...we just need a lot of courage and common sense...remember it's not about red states or blue states...it's about the red white and blue that flys proudly over all 50 of them...
