If you listen closely and you are capable of a very basic internet search---I will direct you to a place where your problems will temporarily disappear. Where the price of gas will be meaningless for the moment and if you’re a nervous A’s or Giants fan, you will suddenly be gripped with the sentiment that baseball is even at the major league level in October is only a game…

The story begins as it sometimes does with a tip from a loyal listener, and we have many. Sometimes they rant, sometimes they praise, sometimes they send along a joke or a funny video. But when I sifted through the email, I found something remarkable from my friends, Dean and Kathy Boswell. It’s simply called ‘pictures without words’ and it tells the bittersweet story of Taylor Morris and his girlfriend, Danielle. After high school, Taylor, always a good student and athlete, entered the Navy and excelled in training, becoming an explosive technician in the U.S. Marine Corp. Last May, serving in Afghanistan, Taylor Morris stepped on a booby trapped explosive device. He would lose both legs, a left arm, and his right hand. Taylor’s story is told remarkably through pictures. There’s Taylor with Danielle, with his buddies before the accident, critically wounded in a hospital bed, and in almost every picture, there is Danielle by his side. This remarkable photo essay was shot and composed by Taylor’s boyhood friend, Tim Todd. It’s the running pictorial of the life of an American hero and a loyal girlfriend, who didn’t get going when the going got tough. Taylor’s story is making the rounds thanks to these remarkable photos and the family has a blog that is now tracking his recovery. He has new prosthetic legs, which recently gave him the ability to dance with Daneille again. Donations to the couple are approaching 300 thousand. Check out Taylor Morris.org and follow the links to all the remarkable heart wrenching photos. There are heroes who keep us safe without regard to their own personal safety. Forget politics for a moment; forget why we are in Afghanistan or what our foreign policy is. Taylor Morris and the loyal Danielle Kelly will make you proud to be an American and part of the human race.
