A detail-oriented artist is gaining fame for his ability to transform peanuts into some very big stars. Steve Casino has painted the faces of everyone from Leonard Nimoy to the entire Ramones lineup on the shells of the nuts, adding tiny clothes and props to help complete his caricatures. He says each piece takes between five and ten hours to make, which he admits is mostly because he makes mistakes.
He explains that even a screw-up the size of a millimeter can ruin the peanut art. But his attention to detail is attracting fans so quickly that there's a waiting list for his work, which can run anywhere from 300 to one-thousand dollars each.
