I am starting a new journal entry today. As we honor our men and women serving in the military, please take a moment out of your day and either say a prayer, or a kind thought, for a member who lost his/her life protecting us. Thank you, ~Amy~.A paratrooper from Vacaville died this week in Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense. 24-year-old Army Specialist Ryan Connolly died in Afghanistan, near the Pakistani border. Ryan was riding in a vehicle with four other troops when the bomb hit. One other soldier also died. Ryan's wife is Stephi Connolly and they have a one-year-old daughter, Kayla. His family says he was to come home in just two weeks.

Hi Amy,
I wanted to share this with you. My friend Colin , stationed in Iraq, sent me this photo and info. He volunteered for a second tour in Iraq. He's a real class act and I wanted to introduce him to you and everyone else.
His first tour was in combat. His second, and current tour, is in a support role. Here is some of his army-speak he sent with this photo: "1387th Quartermaster Company (National Guard) attached to the 13 CSSB (active duty) 2. Executive Officer (second in charge) of the1387th Quartermaster Company 3. Volunteered for the deployment 4. Stationed in Iraq on LSA Anaconda " Chris Thanks, Chris. And thank you to everyone for passing this opportunity on to other family and friends who know someone serving in the military. It is my honor to present them on this web-page along with your thoughts and sentiments. Just send me their picture and information, like Chris did, to amylewis@clearchannel.com

Brandon Mosher
Wednesday 06-04-2008 7:39am PT
This letter about Brandon Mosher was provided by his mom, Pam Mosher's, friends. They say they can't wait until he's home safe and gathered around the dinner table joking, laughing, sharing stories, and enjoying each other's company: Following basic training in 2004, Brandon was deployed to South Korea where he stayed until December 2006. He then was stationed briefly at Fort Hood, Texas and then deployed to Iraq. He is stationed in Baghdad where his duties include overseeing Iraqi police.
Brandon at Fort Hood waiting to be deployed. Brandon's proud parents are Jim and Pam Mosher of West Sacramento. Brandon also has three older sisters, Jessica, Jenifer, and Alicia. Brandon is on the right in Baghdad with friend Stewart. They are both 19-years-old, gunners, and roommates. This was a day they were not on patrol. Brandon says he's looking forward to coming home to enjoy some hunting and fishing with his dad. And he says he just wants to hang out with his friends!

Emails from KFBK Listeners
Tuesday 06-03-2008 5:28am PT
I get emails from time to time from our wonderful KFBK listeners. I'd like to begin sharing them with you. This email was sent to me by Louise and Gary Denton:
Dear Amy,
I would like to express my heartfelt deepest gratitude for your support of our dedicated men and women in the service of our country.
My heart was broken when my brother survived the trauma of Vietnam only to return home to harsh demonstrations and to people who seemed afraid to support the troops coming home in the way we do now.
My son-in-law has never once shown anything but support of his men and his duty to his country, and he is amazed at how mis-informed people who protest are -- yet he continues to work every day to make a difference one step at a time.
Thank you Amy, for caring enough to stand with all the family, friends, partners, brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, and childern of our soldiers.
And may the goodness of life be poured out to you.
Sincerely,
Louise & Gary Denton

Christopher Day, Master at Arms, U-S Navy
Saturday 05-17-2008 8:31pm PT
Hello Amy, Thank you for offering a place to share our loved ones in the military with you and your listeners. My only child, 23-year-old Christopher Day, is currently serving in Afghanistan.
He is a Master at Arms in the U.S. Navy. He trained with the Army in Fort Bragg, North Carolina for this duty in Afganistan. Being there is a problem because they don't have enough Army and Marine troops to fill all positions, so they are utilizing, and cross-training the Navy and Air Force for this unprecedented role.
Nonetheless, my son is proud to be an American and to serve his country. He is a faithful, loving, honorable human being and American soldier. My love to him and to every single troop who is now, or ever was, a member of our armed forces. Laura Day Sacramento, Ca

Hi Amy, This is my son, Jayson Gant, who is in the Navy Seabees, presently serving in Iraq. Jay knew, at a very young age, that he wanted to serve his country.
We are all so very proud of him! We are anxiously awaiting his October return.
