At this year's league championships at Rush Park, Rancho Cordova's Cordova Cordettes Synchronized Swim Team honored those that have served and continue to serve our Country. This first place routine titled "The Heart of America" features music from each of our military braches along synchronized swimming to create this unique and heart felt tribute. These are just a few pictures of my son Chris, from his first two years in
Iraq and now over there again for the third time but coming home on May 8th 2009.

His first time over was with the 10th mountain Division in NY, and the second time with 30th INF and third with 3rd Division

The ARCOM was given to him for bravery under fire in the Battle for Ramadi in his second year there!

We are very proud of this young man, as is his wife Rebecca and daughter Beverly!

Mike Monsoor

PO2 (EOD2)(Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq , giving his life to save his fellow Seals.

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, SEAL's were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center.  As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.

The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the
coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay
from all the Tridents pinned to it.  This was a fitting send-off for a
warrior hero.

Amy,

I wanted to let you know that the Phone Card campaign was a success!  Through your help, co-workers, friends and relatives, we have been able to purchase 100 phone cards for the soldiers in Iraq

We also met some wonderful people and heard wonderful stories of prior service
by some of the Veterans who helped.
Thank you for your help and support!

(Thank YOU, Kathy. Just like you, our KFBK listeners have always stepped up to answer the call. After having been on the air in
Sacramento for 28 years, I have witnessed the incredible generosity and kindness of our listeners over and over. ~Amy~)

9-11 We Remember
Monday 11-24-2008 8:04am PT

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted
to do something to pay tribute to our fallen
comrades, so since we are part of the only
Marine Infantry Battalion left in
Iraq, the one way
that we could think of doing that is by taking
a picture of Baker Company
saying the way we feel:

It would be awesome if you could find a way to
share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering
if there was any way to
get this onto your website to let the world know that “We have not forgotten” and are proud to serve our country.

Good Day Amy,
On this Veterans Day, I would like to remember my shipmates and friends who were lost on June 3, 1969 in the South China Sea. When the USS Frank E. Evans was sunk, 74 sailors made the ultimate sacrifice. Their names belong on the Wall but politics and bureaucracy have kept this honor from them for over 39 years.
As long as the USS Frank E. Evans DD754 survivors are alive, the 74 will be remembered.

I hope you will honor my husband, my sailor, my hero and the other 240 American servicemen who lost their lives in Beirut, the first battlefield in the global war on terrorism.

Auburn Veteran's Day Parade!!
Wednesday 10-22-2008 7:20am PT

The veterans in the Auburn area have a wonderful parade
every year and this one will be of the finest. The theme of
this year is “Go For Broke.” A few members of the famous
442 Regimental Combat Team will be the grand
marshalls.
It’s truly an honor to have them with us in the twilight of their
lives. We also have numerous high school bands and other
marching units. Last year, we had over 60 Vietnam-era
veterans march in the parade behind a banner that identified
these brave men. Most of these combat veterans had
never marched in a parade before and a few of them
were pretty overwhelmed by the response they got from
the good citizens of
Auburn.
This Veterans day on November 11th, an invitation has been
extended to any veteran to come up to
Auburn to be in the
parade, or just to be honored. And the general public is
invited to come to
Auburn to salute all service men and
women. The parade kicks off at
10:45 am on Lincoln Way.
