Online Backlash Spurs Disney To Back Off Princess Merida Makeover
Disney may be bowing to a wave of online criticism over its glamorous makeover for the red-headed heroine of its 2012 Pixar movie "Brave." The studio's slimmer and sexier version of the teenage tomboy Princess Merida reportedly is no longer part of the Disney Princesses website after being inducted last weekend. More than 200-thousand people signed a Change.org petition telling Disney they want Merida back in her original form. Merida's Oscar-winning creator Brenda Chapman even joined in the protest by saying Merida was created to give young girls a stronger role model who's not just a pretty face.
First there was The Bachelor, then The Bachelorette, and now: The Baby Bachelor.
