UPDATE: The "super fee" for "super seniors" has been taken off the table for now by the CSU. A CSU representative came on KFBK and said they're going to revisit it and flesh it out better.

Thousands of California State University students are speaking out about proposed "incentive" fees they might have to soon pay in an effort by the school system to free up classroom space. A survey by the activist group Students for Quality Education found a large majority of CSU students at the system's 23 campuses would be likely to take out additional loans and delay their graduation if the new fees become reality in the fall of next year.

Among the proposed fees is a 372-dollar-per-unit supplement for so-called "super seniors" and a 91-dollar-per-unit fee for students who want to repeat a class. Cal State Chancellor Charles Reed says the fees are designed to change the behavior of students who repeat or drop classes on a whim and take too many courses.
