  1. Fires burning in far Northern California and Southern Oregon are sending wildfire smoke into the Sacramento Valley this morning, for the second day in a row. Air Quality Index readings this hour around the region fall around 151 in Sacramento, 153 in Roseville, and 166 in Davis. Today is the final day of the foretasted increase for fire risk.   2. Roseville leaders are opting against an outright ban on controversial needle exchange programs. The Roseville City Council voted to heavily regulate such programs rather than ban them. A new city ordinance passed at the meeting lists several strict rules governing needle exchange programs, if the state were to force the city to adopt one. Click here to read more.
  3. Yet another store is closing in Downtown San Francisco. The CVS Pharmacy at Mission and 2nd streets will shut it's doors for good on October 23rd. Click here to read more.
  4. Thousands more healthcare workers in California are in support of a strike at Kaiser. This could be the largest healthcare strike in U.S. history, if it happens. Kaiser employs about 85,000 doctors and nurses across eight states. The 7,000 healthcare workers in California overwhelmingly voted to approve a strike at Kaiser. Click here to read more.
