  1. One of the men involved in a shootout between rival gangs in downtown Sacramento received a settlement weeks before the shooting. Court records show Smiley Martin received a $7,500 settlement last month after he filed a complaint about an attack in 2018.
  2. The Redding woman who staged her own kidnapping appeared in court after admitting everything was a hoax. Sherry Papini entered a plea agreement yesterday, which included paying back all her victims. 
  3. A top lawyer for the state of California has resigned and is claiming that Governor Gavin Newsom was meddling in a sexual misconduct lawsuit centered around gaming company Activation Blizzard. Blizzard has been in the public eye in recent months following allegations stemming from a lawsuit from the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
  4. Organizers of a truckers convoy called the people's convoy now say they will start making their way to Sacramento later this week. The convoy was in Washington D.C. and is currently heading North from Los Angeles.
  5. California environment officials announced an ambitious plan this week meant to end the sale of new gas-fueled vehicles in the state. CNBC reports the California Air Resources Board has proposed the state require 35% of new vehicle sales to be electric by 2026, then 68% by 2030, and finally 100% by 2035.
