A man who was shot and killed by police in Citrus Heights, after reportedly firing a gun at officers Monday night, has been identified.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office said the man was 64-year-old Citrus Heights resident Bruce Allan Shumaker.

Police were called to the area of Garry Oak Drive and Twin Oaks Ave in Citrus Heights Monday, for a neighbor dispute.

When they arrived, Shumaker pointed a gun at officers. Police fired at Shumaker but did not hit him. He then ran into his home and barricaded himself for several hours.
