San Francisco Considers Eight Buck Meters

It could cost you as much as eight-dollars-an-hour to park at a San Francisco meter soon.  But it could also cost as little as 50-cents if you park in less popular neighborhoods and during less popular times under a Transportation Agency surge-pricing plan.

The issue is on the October 17th board agenda, but Supervisor Jeff Sheehy is already against it, saying it will just be another financial hit to the working class. A Chestnut Street deli owner tells the "Chronicle" a test of the system hurt his business because people were not willing to pay four-bucks to park to buy a nine-dollar sandwich.
