SACRAMENTO -- Besides various agencies, the government shutdown is also threatening the life of yet another Sacramento area woman with cancer.
First, there was an Auburn woman whose chance at a clinical trial for a new cancer treatment was cut short because of the effects of the government shutdown on the National Institute of Health.
Now, Sacramento's Victoria Castle is facing a life or death situation because clinical trials that she was supposed to participate in have ended for same reason. She says the news was a slap in face.
"I just never would have even thought it would have been about the government. I just never would have thought it," Castle said.
Castle tells News10 she's going to have to go back on chemotherapy to stop the growth of her tumor. She also says she doesn't fear dying, just missing events such as her daughter's wedding.
