Relatives of Californians who died in the 9-11 terror attacks might get a second chance at a college scholarship.
That will happen if the full state Legislature passes a bill approved Wednesday in Senate.
Republican Senator Ted Gaines of Rocklin is a co-sponsor of the bill and says it's necessary.
He notes that the scholarships were not publicized by state officials, so many eligible people missed the original deadline for applications. This bill would re-open the scholarship program for two years under new guidelines.
The bill is headed to Assembly, but there's not much time to get it passed before the legislative session ends next week.
