Would you want it in your backyard?
Some residents of a North Sacramento neighborhood are trying to derail a proposal for a new psychiatric hospital.
Councilman Alan Warren says he's been getting an earful lately over an idea that would bring a 120 bed facility to a grassy field near Highway 160, right across from the Woodlake neighborhood,
"There've been a lot of concerns around safety...whether people were going to experience reduced properties values."
Warren also said he's heard concerns about the operator, Signature Healthcare Services, which has a history of lawsuits and fines in the past.
Council discussions of the plan have continually been pushed back because of the complaints, which Warren says will all be addressed.
He notes this is just a land use issue and that the state would have to approve the actual hospital.
