Today is the 24th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake in the San Francisco Bay area.
It was just minutes away from the first pitch of game 3 of the World Series between the Oakland A's and San Francisco Giants when the 6.9 quake struck.
It killed 63 people and injured nearly 4,000 others. A portion of the eastern span of the Bay Bridge collapsed in quake. The World Series was delayed 10 days.
