A man was killed in Orangevale this morning. Two men shot, with one pronounced dead at the scene. Sergeant Lisa Bowman with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office walks us through what happened.
"The male victims were around 30, and somehow they were approached by two other males on foot. There was some kind of verbal exchange. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot our male, who is now pronounced deceased."
The other man was grazed in the ear. He was treated at the scene.
Sacramento County investigators now say this was not a random act of violence. Detectives have confirmed the person killed was a resident of Central Avenue and the surviving victim was a visitor. Originally the survivor told investigators he and the person killed were walking a dog at 4am.
Now it's believed the victim likely knew or had some prior association with the suspect. There's been no suspect description yet, and the Sacramento County coroner's office has not yet released the name of the victim, pending notification of next-of-kin.
