Organizers of a petition drive to overturn a new transgender law are hoping to put the measure on the ballot in 2014.
The group called Privacy for All Students is hoping to get more than 500,000 valid petition signatures by Nov. 12.
A new law giving transgender students the right to use any public bathroom they want based on the gender of their choice won't go into effect on Jan. 1, and if they meet the deadline, Californians will have a chance to overturn the law in November 2014.
The group held an event outside Stockton City Hall on Saturday and have others planned.
The new law will also allow transgender students to participate in sports based on the gender they identify with.
