CALIFORNIA -- Thousands of children will be able to participate in state-funded preschool thanks to California Legislature.
They're all smiles in the California Department of Education today after the announcement that the State Legislature has restored $25 million in funding for preschool education.
"We were absolutely delighted that the legislature and the governor restored funding to our California State Preschool Program," Nancy Remley with the California Department of Education said.
"This is a program, like our other child development programs, that has been severely cut," Remley said.
Remley says over a billion dollars have been cut from this and similar programs. Restoring the funding means more than 8,300 children from low-income families will have a better chance at succeeding in kindergarten and beyond.
