The City of Elk Grove, in conjunction with the Sacramento Department of Health, will host a discussion on mental illness, Thursday.
"The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of mental illness. But it's also to convey a message that mental illness impacts nearly everyone no matter your age, race, culture or background," Julie Leung with County Health said.
It's part of Mental Illness Awareness Week effort to recognize and understand how mental illness affects lives.
"And what we're trying to do in this project is to really reduce discrimination and stigma against people who are living with a mental illness," Leung said.
Thursday's discussion is from 10 a.m. to noon at Elk Grove City Hall.
