The state is delaying the second phase of a software upgrade at the EDD after problems with the first round led to last month's backlog of unemployment payments.
Officials at the Employment Development Department say they will hold off on implementing a system that aims to streamline how people claim benefits from their home computers.
"UI Online" was scheduled to go into place in the coming weeks but may be pushed back as far as a few months.
The agency hopes it will someday cut down on the number of phone calls that are received. Because of budget cuts and an ongoing staffing shortage, many of those calls aren't regularly answered any way.
