Extreme drought conditions have the Healdsburg City Counsel giving the okay to recycle waste water for ranchers and grape growers.
ABC-7 San Francisco is reporting that, pending approval from regional regulators, the water would be pulled from the city's sewage plant then "highly treated" and disinfected.
Healdsburg Mayor Jim Wood says the water is safe to use for farming and would not affect the taste of crops. The water would be free to ranchers and vineyards. Using the water would be strictly voluntary.
